Dyslexia is an intuitive ability to shift perceptions and see the world with a multidimensional view. At the Dyslexia & Learning Disability Center Inc.® we believe that this ability is a talent. Dyslexics are capable of using this talent to enhance their creative skills. However, this wonderful talent can cause confusion when it interferes with the way symbols, print, language, mathematics, balance, movement, and the sense of time are perceived or experienced.
When we show someone who is Dyslexic how to self-correct and manage their Dyslexic perceptions, dramatic improvements in their academic and physical performance are achieved. Dyslexia only becomes a “disability” when there is no knowledge of how to manage this talent, leaving the Dyslexic with a variety of symptoms that affect daily life.
We believe that all Learning Disabilities, including Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Auditory Processing difficulties, ADD, ADHD, and Asperger’s Syndrome, are all forms of Dyslexia. We feel that Dyslexia affects 40% of the population in some form or another. Everyone knows someone who has Dyslexia. Dyslexics are bright, energetic, entertaining, creative, and unique people.
